Appalachian Trail, Gear -

Getting Ready To Go

With only 6 days left till we leave, I think we can agree that we have done great planning our trip. Only a few things left before we head out and we will be set. We ordered and received most of our gear online, Dion has planned as much as possible for what to expect. I am looking forward to heading out and actually experiencing the Appalachian Trail for myself.

We are excited about our Coleman grill and griddle that came in yesterday. Since we will be slack packing the entire trip, some extra gear will come in very handy. This will help us continue our Paleo diet while we hike as well as assist in some burger trail magic for the other hikers we are with.

Our camera of choice is the Nikon Coolpix AW110. It is waterproof, shockproof, freeze proof and has built-in Wi-Fi, a full-featured GPS with mapping, POI and Electronic compass so we can pinpoint our pictures in a map.

We are heading out early Friday morning, staying with some friends in Longmont, CO till Sunday morning. Then, we will leave for Harpers Ferry WV to begin our trip at the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. We are leaving home feeling like we have prepared as much as possible for the trail. Now we just have to put our boots on the trail and go.
