Appalachian Trail -

We got up around seven and packed all of our stuff. We are sad to be heading out from Bob and Sandy’s house but need to move on. The comforts of sleeping in a house will be greatly missed but we must adapt to life on the trail.  We dropped Dion off at the Appalachian Trail Museum and park the car at Whiskey Spring Road. We are heading out for a longest day yet, 13 miles. I had spent some time this morning while hiking skyping with my grandparents in Florida. It’s nice to be in the middle of nowhere and still...

Today we were surprised with beautiful weather instead of the thunderstorms and lightning we were expecting. We drop the car off at the Appalachian Trail Museum and Bob drove us to Shippensburg Road to begin. We started out at a good pace but that ended pretty quickly. It took us 4 1/2 hours in the pouring rain to do 11 miles yesterday but by hour three today we had only completed 5 miles. Hiking together is nice, but becomes more of a leisurely stroll than a hike. We finally finished our hike after about 6 1/2 hours and went back...

What a great feeling to wake up and be warm. Today we did 11 miles which seems a lot easier after a good night sleep and a big breakfast. After the hike we headed into town to resupply for the next two days. It rained all day while we hiked, it was really nice to be able to go back to Bob and Sandy’s house and warm our boots by the fire. Bob has offered to drive us ahead so that we can all hike together tomorrow, these people are too kind. We are happy to be inside doing our...

Today we only hiked five miles so we could end in Fayettville and get to those showers! Since we finished early we headed to Starbucks for a few hours to use their internet. I called Junker around 4pm and we headed the few miles to his place. He lives right in the park that we’re hiking through, this was perfect. We arrived and weren’t sure at all what to expect. As we walked up to the door we were greeted by Sandy who poked her head out and called for us to come right in. We opened the door and were...

Happy Greaster Everyone! Today is Greek Easter and even though we are on trail we still were able to celebrate!  Today we did our longest hike, a little over ten miles. Christian had a hard time getting going today so it took a little longer than expected but by his third mile he was jumping from rock to rock as usual. We finished hiking and headed to a park area to grill our lamb and eat our Paleo Greek Easter dinner. Dinner was amazing and being there gave Christian another chance to play at a park. We stayed again right off PA233,...
