Here it is, the town we have all been waiting for! Well, maybe town isn’t the right word for this spot but we are here! There is water and grass everywhere and we are thrilled to have made it past the 700 mile mark and are still going strong! We left the trail at mile 702.4 and headed up the road into Kennedy Meadows, actually we skipped and sang a little song we made up the whole way- it was a real highlight of our trip so far! We were originally planning on staying with trail angel Tom, but we...

The stretch from Tehachapi to Kennedy Meadows was the longest and hottest part we’ve gone through so far. We are glad we trucked through it, many people hitched around, but we were well rewarded for our hard work and perseverance. Although we know better than to rely on water cash’s, and we didn’t, we were lucky enough to hit them when there was still plenty of water in a stretch that was over 30 miles from one solid source to another. We planned on taking about 8 days to get from Tehachapi to Kennedy Meadows. That means 8 days worth...

The next section of the trail for us was so hot, but not completely dry. We walked along the aqua duct by early morning light, taking cover from the heat under any shade we could find. We only made it 8.8 miles out from the road the first night, but then did an easy 18+ the next. This section is all about getting up early, taking mid day naps and night hiking to make it bearable. We have met some who don’t mind hiking during the day when it’s 105 out, for us that is just not enjoyable. We are...

We have had the extreme pleasure of experiencing the full effect of the Trail Magic Vortex that is in the distance between Hiker Heaven and Hiker Town. This has brought our mileage down but has also allowed us to all take some time off to relax and rest up for what lies ahead in the next 500 miles. We have really enjoyed all the trail has had to offer thus far but we are now counting the miles until we are out of the desert! When we left the Sauffley’s we headed out in the evening and made it 4.2...

Well, for once our plan worked out flawlessly! We caught a ride from McDonalds to Vincent Gap at the base of Baden-Powell and hiked 8 miles the first night. The next day we completed our first 25 mile day! We didn’t get on the trail until 8:30 but with a break every 5 miles we were able to coast southbound into McDonalds again around 7:30. Our friends Becky, Cali and James came to pick us up early the next day to all go hike Baden Powell together. We all had the most fantastic time hiking with all of them! What a...
